Lancashire and Middlesex were frustrated by the weather at Old Trafford today as their NatWest Pro40 Division One clash was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Although only a couple of light showers fell at Old Trafford after midday, overnight rain was this game’s killer blow.
This situation will hopefully now be rectified as the outfield is dug up in order to install a new drainage system, with fans being given the chance to take home a piece of the famous turf.
Lancashire, who sit bottom of the Division One table, have now had three washed-out games this campaign and are yet to record a win in this year’s competition.
The Red Rose county now face Sussex on August 25 while Middlesex, who lie in sixth place, will face Hampshire at Lord’s in their next NatWest Pro40 outing on August 24.
