Nottinghamshire responded to speculation that David Hussey will miss the start of the season to play in the Indian Premier League by insisting he is still under contract.
Reports suggested the Australian batsman has committed to the 20-over tournament, which takes place from April 18 to June 1.
If that was the case, Hussey would miss Notts’ first five LV County Championship matches and all eight group matches in the Friends Provident Trophy.
But Notts say Hussey is contracted to play for them until the end of the 2009 season.
Director of cricket Mick Newell said: “We are currently talking to David and his advisors so I would prefer not to comment at this stage, other than to say that he signed a new two-year contract with us after the end of last season.”
