Hampshire’s Michael Carberry made a measured hundred as the England Performance Programme closed day one of their match against an MRF XI on 288 for three in Chennai.
Left-hander Carberry (134) shared a century opening stand with Kent’s Joe Denly (55) and hit 15 fours from 251 balls to put the tourists in good shape in this four-day fixture.
Worcestershire wicket-keeper\batsman Steven Davies fell one short of his half-century - and Carberry was last to go, bowled by first-change Pradeep Jayaprakash as the home side used 10 bowlers.
