Warwickshire batsman Jonathan Trott has withdrawn from the England Performance Programme squad to tour India.
Trott was included in a 17-man party to depart on Friday but following a long season in domestic cricket with Warwickshire and his recent trip to Hong Kong as part of the successful England Sixes side he feels he needs a break from competitive cricket.
Warwickshire director of cricket Ashley Giles said: “Jonathan has played a lot of cricket over the last 12-18 months without really having much of a break.
“In addition to the runs he scored for us last season he obviously bowled a fair amount and has only just returned from Hong Kong.
“He feels that taking a break now is the right thing to do. I am sure he will benefit from having a bit of time off at home and come back fresh for the start of 2009.”
