The England and Wales Cricket Board is pleased to announce that ECB deputy chief executive Hugh Morris will be joined by Ashes-winning captains Mike Gatting and Clare Connor in taking up key roles recommended by the England Review.
Morris, a former England batsman and Glamorgan captain, will take over next Monday as managing director of England while Gatting's role as managing director cricket partnerships will start with immediate effect and cover first-class as well as recreational cricket. A key role will be to enhance communication with counties and county boards.
Clare Connor succeeds the retiring Gill McConway as the head of women’s cricket and will represent ECB on the ICC women’s committee and oversee all women’s cricket in England and Wales.
ECB chief executive David Collier said: “I am delighted that Hugh, Mike and Clare have accepted these positions.
“Their experience as captain of their counties and England together with their knowledge of the Cricket Foundation, Chance to Shine, club cricket and the Lord’s and Lady Taverners will greatly strengthen the cricket department within ECB.
“These appointments were recommended within the England Review and approved by the board this summer.”
