South Northumberland and Stanmore will battle it out for the Cockspur Club Twenty20 cup after romping to convincing victories in the semi-finals.

In the late September sun at Cardiff's impressive Swalec Stadium, South Northumberland breezed past Bracebridge Heath to book a place in the final.

Chasing 110 after bowling their opponents out, South Northumberland's charge was led by Brendan Ford who unleashed a number of eye-catching shots against the swinging ball.

He cracked nine boundaries, the best of which was an on-drive in the sixth over, in an entertaining 45 which came off just 24 balls, an innings that took his side ot the brink of victory.

Fellow opener Adam Heather was slightly more watchful but anchored his side's reply to perfection, unbeaten at the end on 38 as South Northumberland won by six wickets.

In the second semi-final, Nick Goh was the star of the show as Stanmore thrashed St Just in another one-sided game.

The all-rounder smote three sixes in an entertaining 57 - his fifty arrived in just 32 balls - as the Middlesex side set St Just 163 to win.

Zawar Hussain provided excellent support with an equally important 33 while Alistair Fraser, brother of former England bowler Angus, cracked 29 at the end of the innings.

St Just would have limited the scoring if they were not so untidy in the field. Stanmore, in constrast, held everything.

St Just's reply began positively with openers Neil Curnow and David Roberts regularly hitting the seam bowlers to the boundary.

The introduction of Goh, who finished with 3-36, changed the complexion with the left-arm spinner dismissing both openers as the run-rate escalated astronomically.

St Just did not recover from that double blow and were always behind the rate despite Mark George's quickfire 24.
