Kent U15s give seniors final boost

Kent got a boost before their Friends Provident Trophy outing at Lord's as their U15 side put some silverware in the trophy cabinet - and with a famous name lifting the ECB U15 County Championship prize.

Fabian Cowdrey, son of ex-England captain and Kent favourite Chris, was presented with the cup after his side's triumph on the third day of the play-off festival at Oundle School.

The England U15 player's side's eight-wicket victory over Kent gave them 46 points from their three matches, 16 clear of Yorkshire, who dented Lancashire's hopes with an eight-wicket demolition of their Roses rivals.

Kent followed up their win over Yorkshire on day two by bowling Wales out for 136, C Nash taking 4-39. And with England duo Daniel Bell-Drummond making 84 and Adam Ball 44 not out, the south east county cantered to victory.

That gave them two wins from their three matches, with both games on day one having been washed out.

Lancashire, meanwhile, were bowled out for just 78, W Ghauri taking 3-29 for Yorkshire. But although the latter rattled along to 79 for two in 26 overs, Kent's victory on the other pitch denied them a shot at the title.
