With the support of the ECB and Durham Cricket Board, Sacriston CC held a NatWest CricketForce presentation evening in its Clubhouse as it geared up to being a Showcase Club for the big weekend in April 2009.
A bumper crowd of over 100 from the Durham club and community squeezed in to see what all the fuss about and they all came away positively enthused on the November evening!
Pesentations from ECB’s David Leighton (Club Programmes Manager) and Daniel Musson (Regional Funding and Facilities Manager), and Sacriston CC’s own Tony Claughan left everyone in no doubt as to what lies ahead.
Dan Musson was impressed with the turn out: “It’s great to see such a diverse cross section of the community coming to support Sacriston CC’s NatWest CricketForce project," he said.
"The age range tonight was from ten years old to 80; it's fantastic."
NatWest CricketForce’s newest Official Supporter, Durant Cricket Ltd, was in attendance and Cristian Durant was happy to say a few words and talk about what they had to offer.
Tony Claughan was raring to go by the end of the evening: “There is so much to do, however there seems to be an unprecedented amount of support on offer to us at this time," he said.
Nick Brown, ECB Regional Development Manager, added: “It seems the club are pretty chuffed that they’ve been chosen for this special treatment.”
No doubt that following this successful evening the club will be fighting off the volunteers as they get their projects underway. If you’re in the Sacriston area and would like to help out in anyway, skilled or unskilled, please contact Claughan - claff@fsmail.net – for more information.
