The MVPs, an innovative joint PCA-ECB ratings system which reveals which cricketers are contributing most to their side, completed its third season in 2008.
Established as a firm favourite amongst the players, it was also extended to chart England performances from summer 2008.
MVP rewards cumulative performances across all competitions, providing the definitive guide who is ‘doing it' for their county this summer.
Kent batsman Martin van Jaarsveld took the overall award in 2008, following the success of Durham all-rounder Ottis Gibson the previous year..
Mushtaq Ahmed finished runner up after being crowned the 2006 MVP in its inaugural season.
Gibson ended the season some 135 points clear of his nearest rival, Mushtaq Ahmed and 178 ahead of third placed Danish Kaneria.
The battle of the batsmen was emphatically won by Surrey's Mark Ramprakash. His 2,747 overall runs, including 2026 in the LV County Championship pushed Kent's Rob Key, with 2199 overall, into second place.
Surrey's Jon Batty pipped Durham's wicket keeper Phil Mustard to take the overall fielding title. The NatWest Pro40 MVP title saw Nottinghamshire all rounder Graeme Swann edging it from Worcestershire paceman Kabir Ali.
The Twenty20 Cup MVP title was secured by Sussex all rounder Luke Wright, who beat off a stiff challenge from Kent bowler Simon Cook.
